The Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District isn't just a bridge. They operate the bridge, a ferry service, and a bus network (which is larger than most cities public transportation systems). It all costs money. Tolls on the GG Bridge are $5 and fares for the buses are usually $3 but can run upto $8.

Those prices are steep. If ads help, so be it.
