Evidentially,
NBC was getting all sorts of flak for putting up promos for their new
fall shows on YouTube, which recently overhauled itself to be more
corporate advertiser-oriented.
Instead of curling up into a ball and cursing Web 2.0 NBC fired back with Bill The Promo Guy, who urges viewers to think twice before criticizing NBC because , "I do someone of those promos... NBC is people like me, people trying to put their son through prep school and buy their daughter a horse."
Bill goes on to defend the promos he ostensibly makes saying, "So when I tell you that the new season of My Name is Earl is the funniest ever...it's not for NBC it's for me. When I tell you The Office will reveal what happened after the kiss .. it's not because NBC wants me to it's because the horse my daughter wants costs more than a small house."
Unlike this consumer, I find this tact hilarious and effective. While it's obviously a corporate tool, it is well done and self-deprecating enough to make you chuckle, and appreciate it. Anything from NBC with a closing line of "Because when you watch NBC, America wins" is alright with me.
I agree. I like that they can mock themselves. I found it funny.

Lame. They're trying so hard to be "hip" and "cool".... it's embarrassingly painful. NBC hanging out on youtube is like that old creepy guy who hangs out at college parties.

I'm mad at myself for watching it. NBC have succeeded in making a promo that far more youtube viewers will watch. Damn!!
