In the age of digital media, how is a new website supposed to stand out in the crowd? Fafarazzi, the popular new celebrity fantasy league, has an idea - and it involves Ryan Seacrest and Google Alerts.
If that didn't scare you - here's the rub, Seacrest apparently works about 23 1/2 hours a day - and spends most of them talking on nationally syndicated radio. One of the only breaks Seacrest takes is to read Google Alerts about himself - so Fafarazzi is trying to build enough momentum to pop on Seacrest's daily alerts and get him to mention Fafarazzi on air.
Here's the original post:
In July, Eqsuire ran a great article about Ryan Seacrest. In it, they describe him multiple times as the devil.
“Well, as the Bible says, he is known by many names.”
“But napping is for mortals. The Angel of the Bottomless Pit has souls to harvest”
The article chronicles Seacrest’s busy day; starting at 4am for his KIIS radio show, rushing off to host Idol, then an interview with Extra and a dinner meeting with E! A true workhorse, literally running from gig to gig… and yet, there… in the middle of his day he stops for a moment to read a pile of Google Alerts about himself. So we got to thinking:
What if we were there, in the devil’s grasp, staring back at him asking him to do it for the Fafarazzi points?
And if we had that chance, what would we do with it? Besides quiver with excitement and fear, we’d beg him to tell his gossip-loving Los Angeles audience about Fafarazzi.com. We’d encourage him to ask celebs on his radio show if they “Did it for the Fafarazzi points” when discussing their latest public blunder.
Here we are, a blog post about Ryan Seacrest, floating about on the web ready to embark on a journey of links and trackbacks, eventually crawled by Google, alert-triggered to his assistant’s email, to be printed out and finally hand delivered to the the mythical beast. So, Ryan, will you do it for the Fafarazzi points?
If this appeals to the marketer or blogger in you - have a heart and help build the buzz - Seacrest is jsut a Google Alert away!
Thanks to the Catch Up Lady, fafarazzi runs my life.
