This past Saturday night I attended Outstanding in the Field - a farm to table event for 100 people on Seedling Farm in South Haven, MI. This was founder Jim Denevan's 143rd dinner - he and a crew of approximately 10 people travel the country every summer and fall working with regional culinary celebrities and local farmers to source unbelievable meals in incredible venues (sea caves, ranches, vineyards, even the Accademia in Florence.)
I (read my Mom) bought the tickets back in March - needless to say I'd been eagerly anticipating this dinner for months. So, you can imagine my total dismay when I woke up to earth shattering thunder and watched as we got nearly 3 inches of rain over the course of 4 hours.
I'd just managed to talk myself off the ledge when the clouds quite literally parted for what turned out to be easily the most amazing night of my summer. Seedling Farm produces over 100 varieties of fruit, and after an hour of cocktails we were lead on a tour by the farmer, got to sample some of the wares, and even pick our own berries for dessert. When we returned, we found that our communal table, which had been set up in the barn due to the monsoon earlier in the day, had been moved outside in between two rows of apple trees.
Words can't describe, so I'll leave you with some of my just-sort-of-outstanding Windows Movie Maker magic...
This looks totally great! I have heard of similar things around the Bay Area, so will have to check it out once I am back

I like all the action shots of you and the fam, looks like a great afternoon in michigan. Nice dress, remember when you first got that one. Has anyone ever told you that the older you get, the younger you look?
